BARC is the City of Houston’s Animal Shelter and Adoption Facility. BARC is the only city shelter in Houston required by law to accept every animal that comes through our doors regardless of breed, temperament, health conditions, and circumstance (from owner surrender, stray pickup, rescued or confiscated animals). Our mission is to promote and protect public health and animal care through sheltering, pet placement programs, pet ownership education and animal law enforcement.
Paws Animal Rescue is 501-c3 all volunteer animal charity located in Alvin, Texas. We rescue cats and dogs from local shelters and also assist people in adopting out their animals that can no longer care for them. All of our cats and dogs are vaccinated, altered and microchipped before they are adopted. They are also treated for any other medical conditions that may require special attention. We also actively Trap Neuter and Release feral cats in surrounding areas and set up care for those colonies.
Starlight Outreach and Rescue (S.O.A.R.) is a 501(c)3 non-profit animal rescue that started with a small group of volunteers who wanted to support the efforts of Houston-area shelters to provide a better quality of life for stray and abandoned animals, medical attention beyond the scope/capabilities of the facilities, and fostering and rescue services for animals with special needs.
Raven's Haven Animal Sanctuary will provide sick, injured, abused, or abandoned animals a safe, stress-free environment to convalesce until they can be adopted out. Only in extreme cases, when medical treatment would prolong suffering, will euthanization be considered.
We advocate for and rescue dogs and cats in desperate situations. We are 100% a non-profit (501c3) rescue and our main area of rescue is South of Houston where most strays are at a high risk. We focus on rescuing animals which are hours away from being euthanized by bringing them to our no-kill shelter.
